Deep Sea Fishing

Go ‘catch the big one’ in Fiji! There are plenty of charter boats to choose from in Point Denarau, Nadi and Viti Levu, which come with an experienced crew to not only get you there, but also witness and document your struggle with and victory over a marlin, mahi-mahi, tuna, Spanish mackerel or wahoo.

Diving

Fiji is a great place to complete a PADI Dive Course, offered from beginner to professional level. The beautiful Mamanuca Islands are a world class dive site. Visit the Fish Market for memorable displays of amazing tropical fish as well as sharks, tuna, turtles and rays; Tavarua Wall for Moray eels and crays; Wilkes Wall, with its coral cay situated on a spectacular edge of a 1000 meter-plunge into the ocean depths; the Supermarket for various kinds of sharks and the Pinnacle and Salamander Wreck offering picturesque underwater photo opportunities.

Parasailing

Enjoy the spectacular views of tropical turquoise waters, reefs and beaches around you from the air, strapped to your chute and flying high, catching the ocean breezes, while the boat below pulls you along. You can share this experience with a special person, too. This fantastic activity is on offer throughout the most frequented islands.

Wakeboarding

Early in the morning, when the waters are flat and inviting, is the best time to learn this activity, this is basically snowboarding on water. Experienced skiers wanting more choppy action should book their rides in the afternoons.

Waterskiing

The above also applies to waterskiing – for those that prefer the traditional two skis to play with. Denarau beachfront lessons or rides can be booked in 30 minute or one hour timeslots and a family member is welcome to ride on the boat to document your feats for a small fee.
Hobie Cat Sailing

Learn traditional, non-motorised sailing on a hobie cat, which is a small catamaran. Experienced sailing enthusiasts can hire one through their hotel or resort and enjoy gliding around the pristine  waters of the South Pacific.

Banana Ride

Younger adrenalin lovers will surely enjoy that traditional beach activity: the banana boat. Prepare for a lot of screaming, splashing and laughter – perfect for families with kids.

Kayaking

A great way to get up close and personal with the islands’ nooks and crannies is through kayaking, with solo or tandem kayaks available – for those who like to keep fit and well toned on their holidays! If you are in Navua, take a canoe trip along the Navua River to a lovely waterfall.

Jet Skiing

For those looking for a serious adrenalin rush, Jet Fiji offers a full-on, hair-raising whizz around the Nadi River mangroves, departing from Denarau Marina. For a slightly lesser thrill, book the jet ski safari around a Mamanuca island, with stops for snorkelling and a idyllic island picnic/beach pancake time.

Hiking and Biking

Hire a mountain bike and get your heart pumping through the cane fields of the Sabeto Valley, which also has some mountainous terrain to tackle. Wacking Stick Adventure Tours offers combined hike’n’bike tours which take you to caves, waterfalls and jungle hot springs: what more could you want?

A holiday in Fiji is not just for those looking for a relaxing beach getaway, but is filled with adventure for those looking for a thrill.
